Common questions
Does filedup upload my documents?
No. Documents are processed entirely on your iPhone. Filedup has no servers that store your document content — and we cannot read what you scan.
What file types are supported?
PDF, JPG, PNG and HEIC photos taken on iPhone. Text is extracted from images, screenshots and scanned documents on-device.
Is filedup legal, tax or financial advice?
No. filedup organises documents — it is not advice. Extracted fields are first-pass and may contain errors. You review and verify everything before relying on it.
How accurate is field extraction?
Accurate enough to save you the typing, never accurate enough to skip your review. Every field is editable. Confidence is shown per field. The final record is yours.
How does sharing work?
Pick a folder → set a password → filedup encrypts it into a .filedup file on your iPhone → hand it off via AirDrop, Mail or Messages. Send the password through a different channel. The recipient opens the file in filedup. Web-link sharing (no app required for the recipient) is on the roadmap.
What happens if I cancel?
Export your data as JSON or PDF first. Documents stay on your iPhone regardless — there is nothing on our servers to lose.

What can't I store in filedup?
For your safety and ours, our Terms prohibit uploading health records, government identification numbers (e.g. SSN, NRIC, passport numbers), banking credentials and certain other regulated categories. See our Terms for the full list.
